Equipment and demonstrations

Contact, VR and virtual simulations as well as remote simulations are organised in the simulation learning environments of welfare and culture at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. Simulations are carried out with simulator devices and control computers as well as without technology.

The simulation environment offers comprehensive microphone and camera systems operating in an isolated local area network as well as a server package that can be used to display a live video or a recording in reflection facilities in connection with simulation teaching. The same system also includes vital monitors for two Gaumard HAL simulator robots. Their output can be selected as one image source.

The simulation environment also includes a few simulated bedside monitors and several different resuscitation dolls. There are three permanent simulation facilities at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, two of which are nursing classes and one that focusses on customer encounters and other simulation teaching. In addition to these, a larger configuration of a simulated bedside monitor can be used to turn any space into a simulation facility, as long as there is either a television or a projector nearby on which the output of the configuration’s camera iPad can be displayed.

Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences’ simulation environments in the field of welfare and culture attract many visitors from both Finnish and international educational institutions every year. The management group of the City of Seinäjoki will also visit the simulation learning environment in spring 2023.
